When doing an outfit in another persons wardrobe, you will need to click "suggest outfit" when you are done. When it's on the page where you can send it, you right click and "copy image address" and paste it into your post! No need to send off the suggested look, you can click of the suggestion when done.

i was confused at this other user somehow having my exact outfit but the image in the quoted area was being weird and mimicking my most recent wardrobe (as shown when i changed my current wardrobe and came back, the doll in the quote changed too)

It usually happens when someone copy directly from their wardrobe, you will always need to either wear it, suggest or save it as favorite to get the look! This happens a lot honestly, but you usually only make the mistake once hehe! 😋
