Chocolate chip cookies

I felt cocky starting this but I started to question myself as I couldnt get the sugar+egg to look white. In retrospect, I realize they meant the white sugar. I'm still not sure if they added the brown sugar in the recipe in case one wanted to switch the white? Either way, I realized at the end it wasnt supposed to be the color white. Yay!

When i was done mixing everything, I questioned myself even more. It was all crumbles and I've never baked cookies before so I wasnt sure if I missed some extra liquids to add or something.
Another challenge: my tiny fridge was full so I had to put it outside instead. Not as cold, so I decided to leave it for 10 extra minutes.

I fucked up when rolling them in balls, it turnes out my first 6 had too much batter Thankfully, I can only fit 6 (my oven is small), and the recipe was made for 18 cookies. Not the best mistake, but not too bad either.
I left them in for 10 minutes extra, hoping for a blessing but it didnt work. They're too chunky, and only a bit crunchy on the outside. Also, theyre crumbling the second I touch them.
Still, while they werent optimal they tasted good! Not too sweet, and the chocolate really balanced it out well. I'm not a sweets person usually, and can't handle too much, so I might end up taking them to my friends parents on sunday, unless they've gone bad by then.

The second time I was better at rolling smaller balls, and while i didnt taste them (they went straight to my neighbour lmao), they looked a bit better.
I forgot to take a picture, but they looked really cute. AND I got a very very nice message about them from my neighbor! Her and her son really loved them. I wanted to cry idc if they lied or not I'm so happy.

The rest went smoothly. I learned what i should, and shouldnt do. So they stayed small and nice.

Overall I think i did a good job, ngl. This is the first time I've ever baked something(alone) that didn't come with a bag, powder, and "add water and butter" on the back lmao. So this is a big win for me.
Next time, I might try to add less flour and hope it might make the cookies less crumbly, but i also converted gram to deciliter, which looking back might have something to do with a few mistakes.
Maybe my next buy will be a kitchen weight haha.

TL;DR: There were a few challenges, I doubted myself too much as it didnt really go as bad as i thought. They taste good, got compliments from my neighbour and her son!

(Bady taken)Pictures: SORRY IF THE PICS ARE BIG LMAO IM NOT GOOD AT THIS PICTURE THING

The first cookies before oven, rolled too big:

The finished look of my two last batches:

Oh, and let it be known I had to fight the urge to grip the oven thingy every.damn.time. I forget it's hot enough to leave a permanent mark on my fragile fingers.

Apple Cake

I didn't really have a lot of time, so there are no pictures. Maybe a good thing, cause it did look a bit messy ngl.

I was going to eat dinner with my friends family, and I know they (esp her father) loves apple cake. Only her sister doesnt like having apple in the cake, so I knew I needed to find a way to make 1/3 of it without apples in them.
The biggest (self-made) problem was that i wasted too much time getting ready and not enough time planning on the cake. I found out a regular apple cake would take 40 minutes to bake, and I didn't think I'd have enough time. My solution? Well, the way I made an apple cake before was with a bag mixture for vanilla muffins and apples and cinnamon. Easy to do even without the bag mixture, right?

Wrong. So, so wrong. The mixing went fine, very easy actually! I put a bit more flour than the recipe said, as it didn't look thick enough (I don't know how they're actually supposed to look like but the vibe was off).
I put it in a cake holder, and put in the apples after so i could stir them in away from the part that was going to be without apples. I also was afraid i overkilled it with the amount of cinnamon I added.

The recipe said 10-12 minutes, which is why I though "You know what? I can waste time until 30 minutes before I need to leave before I make it". Wrong again. It took twice the time, and I got so stressed. When it was less than 10 minutes before I had to run to the bus, I took it out. It didnt really look that good. A bit too soft?
I cut it up and that went to hell. BUT I tasted a piece and I got suprised cause I thought it was really good.

I made it to their house, we ate dinner, then it was time to serve the family with my cake. Really just a mess but they said it was fine. They had ice cream so that was a perfect side.

Anyway, IT WAS REALLY GOOD. Even though it didn't look the best, it was so juicy and soft and good. I was shocked, and they were so nice and complimented it so much. I'm sad I didn't make more of it.

I might make it again tomorrow to bring to my brother, I really really liked it. Truly a win. Who knew vanilla muffin recipe would turn out to be an amazing apple cake haha.

TL;DR I made an apple cake out of vanilla muffin recipe, added more flour and cinnamon and apples(duh). It turned out amazing and I'm so proud of it!!
