I personally disliked the book and the movie. Even though the book actually is more harsh on the behaviour of the *abuser*, it still feels really disturbing. And the movie just basically portrays in a really sexualized and wrong way the *victim*

(Putting the * because I don't want to do spoilers so I'll call them abuser and victim)

The movie romantizes the concept while the book sticks to the roots of this isn't a love story in my opinion

Exactly. But the book is still kind of disturbing, but I'm a bit biased because of my own traumas.

If you're sensitive to the topic I don't suggest I was very uncomfortable

like you guys know this book is supposed to make you uncomfortable right

its supposed to put you into the shoes of a horrible person and make you sympathize with a monster- which of course would make any decent person feel sick

its supposed to help you understand the ways that people can do mental gymnastics to beleive that theyre still a good person even after commitng the most horrific crime imaginable

there is a quote about the author-  "Nabokov, in all his fiction, writes with incomparable penetration about delusion and coercion, about cruelty and lies. Even Lolita, especially Lolita, is a study in tyranny."

People who have read the book knows it's supposed to make you feel uncomfortable, but it's nice to warn others so they know that it explains sensitive topics
