honestly if these ideals (that anyways are currated by trends and capitalism that will fade in 10 years and leave women scarred for life) didn't exist, and ppl were allowed to just fucking live w/o having to BE LOOKING a specific way, the pressure would go off young ppl and their insecurities would fade.

exposure to social media and the agenda pushed by certain ppl and movements, only alleviate those fears of not fitting into a certain beauty ideal, and fuels the need to "improve and enhance" features ppl consider to be "ugly".
I don't think it would, I think it's an evolutionary need to stand out and look good, it's just exploited and made as toxic and horrible as it is by capitalism and other social constructs.
when u stop seeing your worth in your body and idea of beauty, it becomes practical.
and that "evolutionary need" to stand out, is in context to "attract" mates, surely where it has been observed in MALE specimen, while plastic surgery is a practice that deliberately preys on WOMEN to make them conform to standard thrusted upon from a male dominated society.
Nah, look up the rates of hair implants and nose surgery, the rate of men continues to grow and grow

surgeries that are in no way pushed as much as breast implants, bbls and fat reduction. + those ideals of having more hair and a different looking nose, are coming from men who sees these things as status symbols, using those to rise in society.

it gives opportunities to people who wouldnt otherwise get them, if we should critisize something it should be the fact that we hold beauty to such a high regard to the point where people go to such lengths to achieve it

we should critisize those who enforce these standards in society and not the ones who are victims of it

Maybe it's a cultural thing but I have never heard someone say 'you should get a breast implant or fat reduction' here, advertisement for it is illegal and it isn't much of a topic outside of those cheap celebrity magazines

I honestly don't care if one takes plastic surgery but l'm not just a fan when one claims they hadn't when they have gotten some.

Plus, I don't think the need to attract mates is a male thing. It also doesn't just mean plastic surgery, I mean, men work out more than women on average.

I think you're projecting a purpose onto men that have plastic surgery, the vast majority of men who do this do it out of insecurity.

Mate, we're holding a respectful discussion, no need to get defensive. Also, what do you mean by this?
