i can understand ppl speaking 5 languages decently, but i am very skeptical of 'polyglots' who claim they're fluent in 7 or more languages.... like obtaining mastery in a language takes years and u want to convince me u speak 7 languages at 30
Someone may have a language as mother tongue, swedish as second language, english from school and internet, spanish from school, portugese, norweigan, danish cuz they similar lol

oops, that's only 6

I think seven still reasonable though, and it completely depends on how you've learned the languages.
fluently? i very much doubt it, unless they count dialects as a separate language
More or less, like above B2 level. If you for example grew up with five languages and then learned two new ones, it would definitely be possible.

but the languages u learn at school, u can't really call yourself fluent in that haha. most people learn french/german at school in my country, none of them have ever acquired fluency. also fluent in japanese bc they watch anime... lol

possible? definitely. likely? not very much. i am mainly targeting this toward the polyglot yt community bc a lot of them just tack on languages they know superficially and then read from a script.

Yeah no, I haven't watched those kinds of videos more than a few times, but I can see where you're coming from. I mean, I wouldn't claim I know a language just because I can say a few sentences.

also if u like watching shows, skam nl is one of the few shows that is completely translated into english so u can practice comprehension. language used is not that advanced.
this is the very best advice i have like .... idk almost all my fluently english-speaking friends just learned from consuming a lot of english media . unfortunate there isn't a lot of good dutch tv tho ngl

when i was learning spanish i also read harry potter in spanish ? like if u have a book ur very familiar with or smth idk

then again idk spanish so maybe not great advice
Yeah, it's difficult to come across dutch media as well since I'm from sweden haha  maybe there are some good youtubers out there who actually make videon in dutch and not english

I'll definitely try and find a book when I've learnt some more!
