it is super pretentious and I feel like it's just there to be like "look, I know how to use spices and elevate a dish"
reminds me of a quote from grey's anatomy I think? where someone was like every dimwhit knows how to add basil to a dish, but adding xy (I don't remember what exactly) shows you know what you're doing - r at least it gives off that vibe
I don't remember it all anymore, but it's like that
it's like people who are like put truffles on everything or saffran. it shows you know what it is and that it's expensive and many people don't care how you add it, because if someone says they don't like it, it looks like they're uncultured because they don't know "what's good"
it's kind of like with woody allen movies. the moment you say you didn't like it, people be all like "oh, you just didn#t get the message and whatnot and it's art and what else" meanwhile chances are, they didn't like it either and are just saying that to sound like they are better than you. (nothing against woody allen, some of his movies are great, but some of them are not and even he is allowed to make less well made movies, it's not a shame, and it#s not a shame to not like something that is claimed to be well made, taste really isn't something you should judge people on gosh, I hate myself right now, because I do that, but well, we're all just human, aren't we)
(I'm really sorry if you're reading this rant and feel like I'm stupid and not making a point, I try to make sense and I don't think it works too well today

you can easily skip it though, it doesn't have that big of an effect
yeah i know i just want to know why it's there, it seems so pretentious especially considering the small amount of it that gets used you can easily skip it though, it doesn't have that big of an effect
