Honestly tho u should pm a mod instead of making a thread about it since this is clearly about what happened in a locked thread.
i was talking about a general issue, not a thread but aight fair enough. i've messaged mods about rule issues before though and they never got back to me so i don't have high hopes

because you have to be an alcoholic/drug user to be a mod/janny

genuinely curious, if the reason alcohol is ok and drugs aren't is legality, would that mean talking about weed is okay then? i don't really care just wondering now that it's being brought up

self harm is legal as well
i think the reasons as to why self harm discussions arent rly allowed are pretty obvious and self evident
because it can motivate susceptible young people to do the same? or because it's not healthy? both of those apply to alcohol abuse as well but that's all well and good on here
alcohol abuse is viewed as self harm in recovery literature so im w u on this one

talking about things in a positive light. making them seem fun, good, harmless, like something you should do.

honestly agreed here too i don't know what really counts as glorifying or not but i think the real answer is alcoholism is just very normalized whereas other addictions aren't

alcohol, and even some drugs (psychedelics, "study drugs", coke, etc) walk a fine line between "just partyin' in ur 20s" and "oh fuck i have a problem"
alcohol companies fuckin' know this too, and capitalize on young ppl not being able to spot the difference.
