ok nvm i acutally found one class on our uni pages, but its not a class, its a three day/abt 8 hours total course on how to write, no points granted and in my over 4 years of uni have never heard abt it, seems like its been mby 15 people joining it at max
yall should get into it it would absolutely benefit all of all of yall and i'm absolutely incensed that you guys arent required to take an introductory composition courseĀ  your first semester tbh

there are NO classes on how to write in noraway? is there no such thing as a degree in creative writing in norway too? i'm sorry y'all this is just actually literally unbeleiveable.Ā

none of yall can be expected to write well if you aren't taught how to do it imo.
ofc there are degrees on creative writing, but there are no gen eds n therefore no introductory classes to writing.
the only obligatory class we all have is an introduction to philosophy. that said, at least at my uni, we have something called academic writing centre where u can voluntarily go n ask abt help for a text
but yes, it is as potion said: trial and error

the way i learned is:

opening statement
first argument (not your strongest or your weakest)
second argument (your weakest)
counter argument (and response to the counter argument)
last argument (your strongest)
conclusion

I was more or less wondering how to effectively summarize (outline) the main arguments in the essay I read for my essay bc it is one of the 3 bulletpoints I have to include, but I was like?? On how to approach this

Also i overthink essays 10/10 times

ok also nesta i really think you should try to take a writing class next semester. like idk who your academic advisor is but they shouldnt be putting you in so many classes where you need to write essays without having you take a class on HOW to write essays first? i think if you can get into an entry level writing class it will benefit you for the rest of your time in college in almost every class probably and also likely in your future career. i know this advice isnt useful in this moment but i think its important. you're actually a good writer once you figure out how to structure what you're writing you just need a class on how to structure your writing.Ā
actually this is beneficial, honestly a lot of colleges require a writing class to teach you how to write (mine was EXPO E-15), and then they offer classes to teach you how to write in other styles, like i took EXPO E-35 which was a legal writing course ... it's always really interesting.Ā  this semester i'm having to do two diff citation styles which is driving me bonkers, AAA for anth and then APA for psyc

there is no such thing as writing classes in norwegian uni
that sounds fake lmao how do you guys learn how to write essays
here in germany they make you write these kinds of essays over and over again for years and then by your last 2 years of high school they expect you to be a grandmaster at it
