oohhh yeahh I'm a pretty paranoid person and at night I always feel like someones gonna sneak into my room and brutally murder me so true crime at least makes me think of all the ways I can try to defend mysel for ways someone could try but then it just feeds the fear too I guess

that's why i said i kind of learned from it too, there is situations i surely never thought about, that i have been faced with in some documentaries.

but yea idk one of the main arguments i see is that it's a way for people (especially women who r the primary consumers of true crime media) to engage with things that r dangerous or threatening without the actual danger or threat ? same reason people like horror movies or roller coasters, u get to encounter, observe, & think about scary things without actually like .... dying u know
interesting, i think true crime kinda makes me see the world as more unsafe & hopeless etc. while horror movies i think are far enough removed from reality that they don't affect me in that way. basically i'm baby

this but i don't watch true crime anymore because it kinda fucked with my head and some things can be triggering to me now, so i try to avoid it
