U burn more energy while awake
and theres other symptoms of a low metabolism too other than weight gain, tho u can test ur metabolism at the doctors if u have issues 
im talking about basal metabolism though, not the weight loss that happens when u exercise, i dont know much about if narcolepsy has any effect on normal metabolism, but i know basal metabolism is very important to not be overweight, without it youre gonna need to exercise even more

its also the weight u loose when u sleep at night which was my point, its an important process because if ur body doesnt do this right ur gonna have to exercise both the calories that wouldve gone to keep ur bodys function going when u sleep, and the calories u eat to keep u working in the day

Its better to know than go around assuming and living ur life following something that might be untrue, also as I said, there r more issues to low metabolism than weight gain
