people dont wanna admit that theyre victims of this society. like its one thing to say 'we live in a partriarchy' but suddenly saying like 'patriarchy has influenced my personal choices' makes you feel like youre stupid or something. like people dont wanna say theyre effected by it personally- like im too strong for that. idk.
definitely. but also it feels very victimizing to say that you've been brainwashed by this society. it's like finally having to accept you were traumatized as a child. it's a shock to finally accept that the violent porn u were watching since u were 9 is not a 'haha funny' party story but actually a traumatic event that changed your view on sex and sexuality permanently.

it's rather traumatic, for lack of a better word, to finally accept that the things you internalized as a teen are actually the patriarchy and that you have been craving being sexualized by men twice, third ur age bc u were socialized to WANT it

so most ppl prefer to just stay ignorant. i cannot completely blame them.

i had a lot of anger when i first got into radical feminism and it took a while before i was able to be like... more chill about it.

some of its really freeing but it really is like therapy like. you have to dig up all the old trauma and admit how it effected you in order to like understand it and move past it.

indeed indeed and i think a lot of ppl don't want that confrontation. it also puts you in a rock and a hard place. on one side, you finally understand how and why, which means you work to move past it right?... right? but you don't. you still crave being sexualised, being seen as socially acceptable/fuckable. the messages that are ingrained in you in your formative years you can't just close your mind to. it really makes you feel helpless

theres like a big cognitive dissoanance between what a believe and some of the sex i have lmfao and im like at a point now where i can admit like i probably like it rough because of porn and because of being groomed by society to like it that way but knowing that doesnt stop me from liking what i like

when i was quitting smoking someone said addictions are like trenches in your brain. like everytime you have a cigarette you're digging the trenches in ur brain deeper and deeper and it takes longer to fill in those trenches and maybe theyre always going to be in your brain and you have to just work around them.

idk theres some arguements that the nordic model somehow makes prostitutes more likely to like be victims of violence but they literally already are more likely to be victims of violence and if the men are criminalized and they aren't they can go to the police about violence. the counterarguements just dont make sense to me.
