this generation has a boner for empowerment-ificating everything. sex work is not empowering, plastic surgery is not empowering. ur literally catering to society's standard. it's literally girlboss gaslight gatekeep x1000
people dont wanna admit that theyre victims of this society. like its one thing to say 'we live in a partriarchy' but suddenly saying like 'patriarchy has influenced my personal choices' makes you feel like youre stupid or something. like people dont wanna say theyre effected by it personally- like im too strong for that. idk.
definitely. but also it feels very victimizing to say that you've been brainwashed by this society. it's like finally having to accept you were traumatized as a child. it's a shock to finally accept that the violent porn u were watching since u were 9 is not a 'haha funny' party story but actually a traumatic event that changed your view on sex and sexuality permanently.
it's rather traumatic, for lack of a better word, to finally accept that the things you internalized as a teen are actually the patriarchy and that you have been craving being sexualized by men twice, third ur age bc u were socialized to WANT it
so most ppl prefer to just stay ignorant. i cannot completely blame them.
i had a lot of anger when i first got into radical feminism and it took a while before i was able to be like... more chill about it.
