I would honestly stop talking to someone online if they counted me as one of their "real" friends ouff m8
Do you consider it pathetic or
For a lack of better terms, yes. Also, I would never consider anyone online a friend or even online friend tbh but I feel yucky talking to someone like that, cus I feel like mostly ppl who count their online friends as real friends are just loners
when you don't wanna interact with real actual ppl face to face then yeah, obv we are loners lmao

yes, yes, idk maybe? it depends

one of my best friends is someone i met through the internet and whom i mostly communicate with through the internet (though we have met irl too), i've known her for almost 9 years now

i also think. personally. i want to have friends that i also hang out with irl sometimes or i'd be very lonely. but i value online friends just as much as irl friends
Yeah I think solely relying on online friendships can take a toll on someone
I def think growing up on the internet made it harder to make real life friends.
But like, a lot of folks live in places where they grow up very isolated so it's nice that we live in a time that isolation doesn't necessarily have to mean total lack of human contact
100% Yeah

i do think of many og my online friends as my actual friends
but no, i would go crazy if my only social contact was online, but i guess some people would be alright w it

I moved away from my childhood best friend when I was 13, and we've remained "online friends" for the past 15 years.
Would you consider that different?

Makes sense though I don't think it's bad to be a loner, might just be weird circumstances irl for them so they resort to the internet as it's much easier to connect with people
IAgree but I would never risk being someones only "friend" and even then, someone who is content with only relationships and me wouldn't mix cus I think I would rather kms than only having friends online

I think it'd still be slightly different than a real life friendship considering you (from what I assume) haven't properly spent time physically together in many years, a lot can happen within 15 years

Yeah I'm also quite introverted and kind of isolated because of my general situation but I think I would go insane if I weren't around people irl, even if it's just coworkers and stuff

I tend to think of them in the same way
as work friendships/acquaintances
some of them aren’t that deep
while others, you’ll keep in touch with
even when you’re not employed there
via phone/social media.

No, it’s unrealistic and most likely
only works for those too afraid to
speak up or approach others irl.
That has to be unfulfilling in some ways
because they miss out on the social aspect
going out, drinks, movies etc
and don’t know how to properly engage
with others irl

no, that’s a little scary/.weird

If your mom went to prison when you were 13
and you couldn’t visit her but kept in contact via online
is she your “online mom” or..?

I see no difference
