been a while since i had to think about piercing care but iirc don't take jewelry out if you suspect an infection u could trap it
i think it's also just generally bad to mess with the jewelry in a fresh piercing bc it will irritate it, putting it back in might rly suck /:

when i had my lip pierced i boiled water and salt let it cool and then stuck the piercing in it for a while, maybe not as good as buying proper saltwater but it worked
most sites I came across were like take the earrings out, and clean it. I didn't do it at first because I don't want the hole to close lol. but the earring started to really hurt my ear like it felt extremely tight and I couldn't even move it if I wanted to. it was extremely difficult to take it off, and the pain of the tightness(?) I felt earlier is gone so I think I had to take it off? I'm not sure
I will try to do the salt with boiled water until tomorrow..
to be completely honest i probably would have taken it out too bc that sounds horrible
i hope it gets better soon!!
I read it could even be an allergic reaction??? but nothing is happening to the other ear..yet. ugh so annoying sad( but yes I definitely needed to take it out. thank you for trying to help <3

i'm sorry to hear that your new piercing is bothering you, however that's part of the process, it's a wound after all. it's not uncommon for piercings to feel tender and tight or be swollen for weeks, depending on placement, how much you 'bother' it (touching it, sleeping on it, trying to twist it etc) and the consistency of your cleaning. though if you believe a piercing is infected, speak to your doctor.

you are not supposed to take the jewellery out or twist it to clean it. if it's too painful to clean around it for the first few days just let it be, don't touch it or force anything, that'll just make it worse. soak your ear in saltwater (non-iodized sea salt + boiled water in a clean cup) for 5-10 minutes twice a day. i also used an antiseptic spray once a day for a couple of months with my last few piercings, which worked really well for me (in addition to the salt soak) though not all piercers will recommend that.

I really didn't care much for the ``normal``pain I had in the beginning. like I expected it.. but today just a few hours ago it started hurting like to the point where I couldn't focus on anything else or sit still. I know you're not supposed to take it out no matter what but it seriously felt like my ear was eating the earring, like the back of the earring was sucked all the way in to my ear. when I took it off each part of it went flying to diff directions that's how tight it was. now that it's out its much better, but I know the hole will close within hours.. so I want to try and put the earrings back in but not as tight but I'm scared

a gun and didn't rlly get any info about cleaning it or anything so I just let it heal by itself and didn't touch it or sleep on it. the pain was there but it was fine, but like today suddenly it was hell..

im not surprised it got swollen n u felt pressure cause w the gun, it just pushes the flesh n skin that was where the piercing is now to the side, whereas a needle hollows out the ear to make room for the piercing :0

hope it heals nicely n dont close back up!
