tbh i dont even know what it comes from, i was embarrassingly old when i had the epiphany that "birthday flags" were just our country's flag, and that we're the only country who does that. we use it for any type of celebration

Honestly I don’t think it’s that weird in theory it’s just a shame that it’s so tied to nationalism and that nationalism is so tied to awful people usually. Like having the flag as a default decoration kinda makes more sense than random colors as default yanno ?
