I only have the hookup
for bootleg alcohol..and only recently
discovered that moonshine
has different flavors lol
That will depend on who you ask, too
some folks are purists (yee-haw snobs are so much worse than regular snobs)

I'm of the "it ain't moonshine if you're payin' taxes" crew, and that's pretty much the only stipulation I got lol
If I lived in a dry county
forget being a snob ok

I had only sampled the flavor free
but then I discovered strawberry!!! Lol
Kinda disappointed that it wasn’t
in a mason jar tho 😞
gotta get you some that has wild blackberries in it
thats the good shit

I mean, the mason jar is iconic for moonshine but really that's just because it was cheap and available
any glass that is cheap and available seems appropriate to the traditions
especially with the price hike on mason jars.

that being said, I've lost count of the amount of folks I've met who have told me their grandma has "a school bus full of mason jars" on the family land lol
My mom has a few due to
being gifted with fruits/jams etc
and I wanted to be authentic so yeah
in the jar it went..I was tore up from the floor up lol
definitely not something I would drink everyday tho

That actually sounds pretty good
and the next time I’m home
I’ll search for it!

No shade intended but this thread
reminds me of “you might be a redneck if…”
Hi, my name is Lo and I’m a black redneck
because there’s definitely a few things I’ve done
or it applies to someone in my family
AND jelly jars ARE for beverages, desserts..

Every time you describe life in your state I can't decide if I should be envious or frightened.

Despite all the shit going on it seems like you guys are more social and welcoming than we Europeans (minus South of Europe probably).

I think you'd be surprised to find that all the stuff that the coveted and fantasized sustainability/homestead lifestyle has been happening here forever, only it's being done by poor people so it doesn't end up on Pinterest.
Would not surprise me. Here it high key "ended" at my grandparents generation bc 1960s oil. Suddenly we went from poor af country to rich af w such a small population. but i am thinking more about bulletproof vests aka guns. Like the us scarie. I don't think I'd have the skillset to remotely fit in there.

I don't see a problem at all with how it is in the Nordics, it's minding your own business and respecting that other people are too minding their own business

I can't make friends bc i don't want to disturb people 😭  sometimes i just want someone to talk to me on the bus and my best shot is some 70yo person taking the seat beside me about how nice a day it is

So I recently got interviewed for a podcast (it isn't out yet) about one of the art programs I designed and when they asked me about the place I live, the only way I could describe it is, "we take care of each other"

we've got our issues, but it's a hell of a lot different to be poor in a community where you feel supported, than in a city where no one notices you.

like when I get funding for a project, if I have a line in my budget to rent a venue, I'm renting a venue off someone who's taken care of me before
if I have a line in the budget for printing/marketing, I'm gonna hire someone locally who does it

thats how we all are really, when we can afford to be
