toxic work culture:Â
My supervisor was a real Karen. I remember her telling a confused, agitated dementia client she was âjust awful.â Yes, she also fractured her foot and is confused as to why she has to wear a foot brace and gait belt. Sheâs frustrated and scared. Go easy on her. She also made another girl cry because she yelled at her saying she was weaseling on her exercises and lying about doing them. Come to find out she wouldnât assist because she was too scared and wanted pt to do them. So either hire more PT sessions or get off your lazy ass and stop adding embroidery patterns to your Etsy cart on company time. Iâve heard rumors of abuse and I believe it. Really regret not reporting her ass.Â
There was an issue of passively aggressively singling out staff during meetings. I will never forget when I asked if I could make a chilled vegetable soup for dinner cuz it was 90 degrees (SRRY Iâm American) and heat can trigger seizures. She approved it, they didnât like it. NBD right? Well I ask if I can help with menu planning and she straight up says that I need to cook what the residents like and not make everything vegan. Lol wut?Â
next meeting I see a paper that says âwe cook for consumers, not staff.â She discusses this and looks directly at me and says, âyeah that soup? I think (name redacted) made that with you cuz she wanted attention.â Uh bs. It was an experiment, I wasnât forcing anything, they were willing to try, that it wasnât a success means Iâll try something else. Plus I put dairy ranch on their salad that night so obviously you didnât understand what I was trying to do. Plus you approved it and youâre putting all blame on me? Best part- they served meatless Pattieâs months later lmfao.Â
It gets better. Manager and supervisor say  we need to work on reducing their sweet consumption and serve healthier meals (which was my goal) in the next meeting. Then what do they do? Continue to buy chips, cakes, candy and ice cream on sale. Good job. Several people there are already pre diabetic, thatâs straight up neglect imo.Â
Additionally lots of jealousy, lots of gossip, acting nice to your face then talking shit or tattle telling to people. Assholes being lazy and demanding certain tasks (often the easiest) instead of working as a team. Pictures of snack dishes being left behind taken without my permission when no one even told me dishes were expected to all be done by 7.Â
horrible. Glad you and I moved onto something better
