that's sad, has her husband acknowledged it now?

i see. i guess it's mostly new things that are an issue? my family member talks a lot about past events, according to those who have interacted more with her than what i have done
i think so, but he still seems a bit... idk... like he doesnt wanna think about it

yeah, for sure. she can remember alot about the past, like in really great detail
so she remembers us because we were a part of that past, but as it gets worse so there might be a time where she doesn't
and she mixes up the "kids" in the family i think, she was at my sisters konfirmasjon but thought it was mine (and im almost 24)
i guess it's very difficult to be the one who is the closest to it all the time : (

oof i see, it probably doesn't help that since you are still fairly young your appearance will gradually differ more and more from what you looked like ages ago, so she might not be able to recognise based on that as well, if she suddenly only remembers things from when you were like 6 years old
yeah, i really feel for him. i just wish he would get her more professional help, but i guess its hard because it makes it more "real" in a way?

yeah. and she got to know me when i was like 13 so i think im kind of "stuck" in a konfirmasjonsalder ish.
and if that is the "threshold" of her memories then im kind of scared that she wont remember my sister who is younger than me

But I don't know if it wasn't just because of the meds she got.
It took 10 minutes for her to recognize me.
I did come across that some medicines have side effects that resembles alzeheimer's yeah
yeah, lots of diseases can cause dementia

but i really wish you and your family the best with your family member, and i totally understand being hesitant to visit or talk with her. its a difficult situation because you wanna remember them as "themselves" in a way
its an incredible frustrating disease

i think patients with alzheimer's is a very difficult patient group in general, like how do you help them especially if they themselves reject it.

oh yeah.. oof, your sister is how much younger than you? 9 years?

it's also a bit unfortunate due to other things in my life so i'm convinced the easiest for all parties is if i just "disappear" from it so avoid any negative or upsetting things

there's no point in me being involved in this, it's not about being mean or anything it's just a bad idea
