honestly best way is to get like actual strangers to help declutter who are paid for their time (speaking from experience)
i dont think anyone should be forced to sit in a dusty musty home full of stuff even if its a loved one

i thought about it, but he'd never pay someone to do it, because he just doesn't see it as a problem

i mean, if it is obviously causing issues and they believe it is a mental health issue, shouldn't they be helping him get into/take seriously therapy? Like, if he needs professional help, you can't be expected to just magically fix things. As someone else said, let a professional help. A professional declutter-er could be an option, but a professional health care associate might help more.
