no that doesn't explain why because most norweigan people don't have british accents but they are still being taught that at school. norweigans talking in english with a norweigan accent sounds closer to "american" accents then they do brittish accent
okay two points
1) american tv. american films. we are constantly hearing american english. so thats how we learn to speak on our own
2) we're taught british english words, but the way of speaking depends on the teacher's accent, which can differ
i asked this question earlier but everyone ignored it, but if everyone around you have the same accent why stand out and put on a british accent? most don't talk that way. there is no need to sound brittish if you're not
theres no need to sound smart if you're not either but look at you go

maybe i should do like my stepdad and just adapt the english language to my norwegian way of speaking and thereby sound neither american nor british and the problem is solved. unfortunately that would mean people would have a hard time understanding me but it's necessary so i dont sound like im from somewhere im not

american accents don't sound as obnoxious and stuck up as brittish accents do. that's one damn good reason not to promote that accent in non brittish countries
