In documentaries no, in movies it doesn't matter. If the movie isn't about race it doesn't need racism.

i skimmed lol, it's not worth it honestly. just absintjente giving out free history lessons and the others not really knowing how to respond to it due to lack of historical knowledge in a thread about historical accuracy (no offense)

My guy, there was black ppl in England already in the late 18th not to mention the people from the British colonies. If l remember correctly Sherlock Holmes is based in the Victorian era. Besides most of the time, cinema isn't even that correct on historical accuracy. Actually, cinema rarely isn't even that accurate on anything.

I think people who say they care about historical accuracy so much should
focus on things like costume design and language if they truly care so
much. Otherwise it's just a bad look.

This gave me the same vibes as the manchildren whining how it is not accurate to have females in a war game (even tho e.g Russia had female soldiers) when Battlefield 1 came out with female characters

i don't really care that much about historical accuracy tbh, but i have noticed in some netflix series it seems diversity is prioritized over whether the actor is a good fit for the character and that does bother me a little. cough altered carbon season 2 cough.

it doesn't hurt to at least try to not sound like you are a rich fucking upper middle class cunt from England when playing non-Anglophone characters imo as long as it isn't conducted in a condescending way but obviously that's not about race it's me being a linguist

those men were complaining about a fictional game with fantasy elements, its not the same as a tv series where im guessing the point youre trying to get across is gender inequality and stereotypes and then u have this woman just casually running a whole ass dojo in the middle of london wearing pants and shit
