we should be also able to question whether or not the decisions we make are even real, if we are truly free enough to make decisions without actual influence of the situation we live or the community that surrounds us
i dont think we are ever free in practice, in anything in general. but then again we try to choose things that are most likely going to help us in every scenario possible, or that we at least think its going to help us. so the problem with whether sex work is a decision or not is a tricky one for some people to even respond, or to open their minds to think of both sides of the coin as perspectives to be respected and analyzed in order to find, perhaps, an actual response
then again, we also have to think of what kind of people are inside this situations. are they mostly poor or middle class/wealthy people? are they part of minorities -ex: women, people of color, lgbt people, etc-? what about their "social" backgrounds?
we, finally, have to think about what can we do to help people to live a decent life and when we -hypothetically- do help people to live a decent life -as in, having their basic needs covered-, can we see an actual "reduction" or even disappearance of sex workers/sex work? if yes, then we might as well affirm that sex work is -mostly/always- done under necessity, and not under own decision or "want"
i may have trouble to get my message over in english but hopefully i am pretty much clear abt my stand on the topic
disclaimer: please respect people's opinions, and respect people in general. dont care if you believe that sex work is work or not, just be nice to people, and treat them the same way you'd like to be treated
