like you guys know this book is supposed to make you uncomfortable right

its supposed to put you into the shoes of a horrible person and make you sympathize with a monster- which of course would make any decent person feel sick

its supposed to help you understand the ways that people can do mental gymnastics to beleive that theyre still a good person even after commitng the most horrific crime imaginable
Yea but its good to warn people who it might make too uncomfortable
yea survivors of CSA shouldnt read it if they havent had some serious therapy- or really shouldnt read it at all theres no reason to.

yeah this is why i appreciate the warnings. i think the book sounds really interesting and i would like to read it if i could, but i don't think it would be worth dealing with the consequences of wht sounds like such an enormous trigger lol. so i mean obviously, no hate on nabokov or the book itself.

I'll have to agree
I saw the movie before book and it sent me into a mental torture hell and it took a lot to get to the point where I could read and watch without something like that happening. It's a wonderful novel, no doubt, well written but not for everyone

i love lana for being partly responsible for this song

but yeah also lana and tumblr was a great vibe back in 2012-2013 imo. i've never been a real lana fan but i always listened to her music unironically and i'm hella nostalgic about the whole deal back then. probably my peak in life lol
