Honestly, and quit giving Victorian women weird ass almost modern dresses and corsets, the fuck is that about?

yes, omg, what is it with them always trying to ruin the victorian era, like ... glad they don't go in as hard on the others, but why the shame on victorian and edwardian fashion?

lmao that would be really interesting actually
in some historical movies women wear wigs for their pp area to be more accurate for the time era, lets be honest its probably a fetish thing
It's a fetish to be into womens natural body? I've seen this said before and that's just so fucking weird to me. Straight people, amirite? AMIRITE?

exactly, so histical accuracy is just an excuse to not deal w the backlash of not having poc in movies or bothering writing actual roles that isn't racial stereotyping

the only show i've seen some actual historical accuracy is in black sails, but still it dives into a more dramatized version of 1770's english empire & piracy.

idk i'm more concerned about looking at the whole picture critically, like who made the movie, what was the purpose of the diversity (cash grab, actually represent more people etc), is the movie overall allowing for suspension of disbelief if it isn't historically accurate, are the issues dressed within the story or is it a story where smth like that really is irrelevant to the story told etcetc.

forced diversity just looks like they want 2 get as much money n woke points
but in the end, they do not really care about representing minorities in historical events
!!!!!
imo if they really cared about other groups they would actually show how their situation was (bad or good but without changing anything, like just showing their realistic situation) and not just make a normal character diverse just so they can say "yes we have colored ppl in our movie/series"
youd see movies abt, lets say, victorian era n see a wealthy black family... like sure..... not like they have been treated like slaves until not so long ago.....?
like, pls be accurate... stop tryin 2 erase history

movies are not for historical accuracy purposes... we have documentaries for that. it's up to the director's choices what artistic liberties they want to take

I think people who say they care about historical accuracy so much should focus on things like costume design and language if they truly care so much. Otherwise it's just a bad look.
Believe me, it enrages me that language is incorrect. Especially when they haven't even tried.

it was just so specific to go to that length to give this woman more pp area hair just for historical accuracy

If people actually cared about diversity we would be hearing a lot more people talk about the lack of so call people of colour in director roles, writing roles and the likes.

I find in most period pieces, no matter how hard they try to accurately depict fashion/set design/makeup etc, it still feels modern. It stills looks like something someone created yesterday. Which I guess it was... but some do a better show of making you 'feel you're apart of the period' that others. Sometimes I do wonder if what I see of the past now (such as in stately homes), colours what I think furniture in the past looked like.... i suspected it to be slightly tattered, when obv it wouldn't have been

YESSS preach gurl!!!
cause i hate to watch movies that try to make history more beautiful and equal even tho everyone knows its just false history they are trying to display. i would rather watch a movie where the history of black ppl f. ex. is shown as it was without beautifying it, i mean we should never forget the roots of racism and that its a problem as old as time

Is that more specific than making sure corsets are historically accurate though?
