i also feel like both are under-diagnosed in women and girls, since the traits show up differently - not as "clear" as w males and boys. again that's a bias originating in misogyny too.
the thing with psychology is that nothing is set in stone
we discover new things all the time, or we come up with new theories or revise old ones and whatnot, right? if we, to not get too off topic from what this thread is about, take autism for example, it wasn't that long ago that it was considered a type of psychosis disorder similar to schizophrenia
and while we're at it with schizophrenia, all the theories about that through history has been very different. i mean, it ranges from being possessed to there's a dopamine malfunction in the brain and there are probably several different types of schizophrenia stemming from several different malfunctionsÂ
