im pretty sure they even have store in japan with kimonos to rent and it's somewhat directed towards tourists .. but dont hold me accountable for that, as im not sure

That's interesting! I think there should be a more clearer understanding of whats culture appropriation and whats culture appreciation but it'll always be disagreements so I don't think it would ever work out like that

I could see why seeing people embrace the culture, might make some people happy too see honestly! 
Personally don't think i would either? at least not on my own, since i don't have any knowledge about it.
