What kind of books are usually going for at thrift stores and what kind of books do you usually seem to find?? I been thinking about book thrifting!
I rarely buy books in thrift stores (tho I do order all my books online used) - but I have found some cool old hollywood related books, a bio on Barbara Stanwyck, one on the whole Fonda family, one on Marlene Dietrich, an early copy of Hollywood Babylon...

I'm genuinely curious to know what secondhand shopping is like outside the US
because where I live it can be as normal as a thrift shop - or an absolute FUCKING WILD RIDE THROUGH THE LAWLESS LAND OF KENTUCKY
I can for sure say most our thrift stores is way smaller than your usual goodwill, often also rather expensive from what i have seen?
Goodwill raises their prices every few years which I think is kinda fucked up since they pay their employees like shit and all of the stuff was free for them.

we also have little church charity shops too where things are like, a dollar.
That's really interesting. We don't really have thrift stores? I don't think? Not sure what the definition is. We have second hand shops but they're mostly one off small businesses. We do have like a franchise thing for second hand shops, they have a few shops in the country. They're all nonprofits though, they use the profits to pay their workers and the rest is given to the charity the franchise belongs to, it's a charity for peeps with special needs, it feels really good to buy from there.

I hope i have luck to find something i might like honestly. I usually buy them all new, since im not a fan of lending them at the library (I tend to have forgotten to give them back in time in the past).

(i know u didnt ask me, but from first hand experience of working in a thrift store, i know for certain we sell romaner, krim, young adult novels, cook books, hobby books, childrens books and comics as well as klassikere typ ibsens samlede verker, amalie skram osv osv. only thing in our store is we get so many book donations that we only really tar imot books in norwegian and the romaner/krim have to be (preferably) no older than from 2010. like if they are sold in bokhandlere today, we want them) lmao

In theory that's pretty smart actually, sad the remaining is likely going to waste though. My hope is to find some classics or maybe some interesting biographies or something like that. Last time i went they had a decent amount of books, so there should be hope!

i think books are one of the things we sell the most of, which isnt that surprising considering we sell every single book for 10 nok each (which prolly isnt america-cheap but its norway-cheap)
