I just remembered it started today. What's your relationship to secondhand things?

I buy secondhand almost exclusively, unless it's genuinely not a viable option.

All my furniture, clothes, cookware, appliances, everything.

I usually don't have much succes with second hand stores at least, but i still really like thrifting stuff.

I'm genuinely curious to know what secondhand shopping is like outside the US
because where I live it can be as normal as a thrift shop - or an absolute FUCKING WILD RIDE THROUGH THE LAWLESS LAND OF KENTUCKY

I can for sure say most our thrift stores is way smaller than your usual goodwill, often also rather expensive from what i have seen?

I buy a lot of stuff second hand, but i also do buy stuff that's not second hand. Usually when i buy secondhand it's when something "speaks" to me

Goodwill raises their prices every few years which I think is kinda fucked up since they pay their employees like shit and all of the stuff was free for them.

we also have little church charity shops too where things are like, a dollar.

They know people will come back no matter what, it's kind filthy to do, i agree. As far as i know, most people volunteer to work at the thrift stores run by organisations here.

i cant remember the last time i bought something that wasnt secondhand tbh. i always trade/buy secondhand. its all the same to me anyway, no matter it will still be new to me. i do like secondhand better though cause its less money(im poor), and im learning how to re-sew clothes, so its nice to not feel like ive just wasted a lot of money in case it turns out bad lmao.

i have a hard time with secondhand clothing tbh but im working on it. but i have often bought furniture and smaller stuff from secondhand stores. actually talked with my mom the other day that about 80% of the furniture in our house is secondhand. i think thats kinda great
