no it's not. most everything in life gives you dopamine n even if you have a social media addiction or whatever, you're not powerless against it, it's stupid to just blame social media as if you can't do anything about it.
yes it is and if you think it like that, you're not powerless to any addiction. stop blaming drugs, just quit them it's all in your head right? nobody forces you gamble your all money, just stop doing that. just don't eat sugar haha. oh just stop smoking problem solved. etc etc
if you truly see addiction as "big bad evil drug is ruining my life and i can't do anything about it so i shouldn't even try", idk what to tell you
i didn't say so, but it's an addiction. whatever it is it's not easy to get rid off of it and you can't just go around telling people to "just do something about it"

Because you can do something about it, dosent always mean that it is easy thought.
sure, but often people won't even consider it a possibility that they have a choice in this. they just blame social media for being evil. idk how people are so uncritical and helpless.
I mean if you aren't looking into trying to do something about it, but just complain, sure i can see it. I don't think that it is as easy as it seems to some people thought. Even if they wanted too.

Though I still believe that these addictions aren't the only thing at fault, that was my point with this thread. People are also at fault for how things affect them, obviously not consciously but it's just that we are weaker than we think, we overestimate ourselves a lot.

We could have to ask why we overstimulate or become addicted thought. Which factors in our everyday lives would make this the preferable choice? Which issues may we be hiding from? Which needs ain't met? Why don't we necessarily have the energy to go out to fix some issues and instead pick up our phones? There are the external factors of the apps (why we choose them in the first place), and the internal ones (why we stay, e.g. easy gratification, notifications and inbuilt addictive behavior,  attachment to old posts).

Imo I view the 'fragility' or whatever, susceptibility as a somewhat good thing,, just means all the negativity n nn chaos n absurd shit u come across on the internet hasn't made u cold n careless yet lmao, tells a bit about peoples sensitive character nn whatnot I fink
would much rather spend time w someone who clearly gets shaken by x dreadful thing theyve seen online or whatever than someone who brushes it off as if it was nothing, that I find even worse than being highly affected

but then again I've often been called too sensitive n emotional n whatnot so maybe thats just how I justify my own reactions to ze web lmao

You're one of the few people I've seen deeming sensitivity a good thing, and you justified it well

in the grand scheme of time, the internet is still really new
I mean, most of the websites that are integral parts of life now, (and I mean everyday life, "can't escape it" parts of life) have only existed like, fifteen years tops, I mean shit, I'm older than Google.

We're just now seeing how this kind of media, connection, and communication would effect people at all, because it's never existed before.

This is social science in the making.

Nope.
The fault are the owner and developers - they literally glorify all the stuff thats wrong.

especially the younger gen
it's mostly them i see being sucked up
and those that grew up on social media are by far worse off. like niche communities have their problems sure, but it ain't the cesspools of depravity that's allowed on places like facebook, twitter & insta.
