rubbing oil into your face for an hour exfoliates it better than aha?
i think i gotta use it (chemical) for a long while for it to replace physical exfoliation of any kind
like im doing chemical to start preventative care but my skin peels off like its a hobby, its gonna take a while i think for it to catch up but i dont wanna use rough physical exfoliants in the mean time (which i have to bc my skin just. sheds off like a lizard its terrible) so oil rub does it
I use an enzyme scrub for that because my skin just doesn't work well with chemicals or physical ones (I mean, the enzyme in theory is also a chemical, but it's not an acid) and I already saw a difference after the first use
it's all just about doing it regularly
i just havent been able to find anything so far that exfoliates faster than i shed, its disturbing
but after a few weeks i have hope my current routine can do enough without me needing to physically rub off the skin more than every once in a while

the issue you need to combat then is mostly dehydration
just removing the shedded skin won't really fix the issue of shedding and I don't think using too much and too harsh stuff would be advisable. the oil is a good choice, but you can't really prevent your skin from having minor flakes every now and then, skin isn't supposed to be completely plastic smooth
if you find something that helps hydrating your skin, you should start seeing a difference in the shedding in the weeks to come

o i actually picked up a body scrub from them once at the store, it seems to work fine but i think im reacting to something in there so i havent used it much but it does make my knees real smooth when i use it

currently ive settled on using just salicylic acid for it to see how it goes (except for the oil rub)
my skin is. very sensitive. which is why i find it weird that physical exfoliation is what it seems to tolerate the best but here we r

i havent so far like honestly im going nuts, my skin was already extremely dry (in general but also +eczema) and my skin never recovered properly from going on accutane in my teens and i can somewhat keep it in check during summer by exfoliating, moisturizing and oiling, but if i miss even one day (or, one morning/evening round) it sets me back so much. like i will be smooth in the morning and flaking off at the end of the day. if my skin gets wet with water and air dries, its just a spot of dry skin within half an hour

ive been doing so much reading into skincare lately and trying to figure out how to deal with it but its slow progress, and i think sooner or later i may just have to take a new trip to a dermatologist to see what the hell is up. but its expensive

okay, honestly, if you have a medical confition like eczema, your best bet is to go see a dermatologist instead of trying out random stuff, which could potentially just make it worse and worse
you won't really win anything by trying out stuff at random, because that'll just be pointless expenses too

I'd recommend to maybe try something from the pharmacy, since there are a bunch of brands that specialise on special care skin, but even then it's quite often hit or miss if you manage to find a brand that helps. plus you're still looking at 2-3 weeks of testing to see if there is any change in it
(I personally have had great experience with la roche posay, my mum has had great experiences with a swiss brand that I can't remember - though they make mostly things for mature skin. but that's not necessarily something you can go off from)

ur skin sounds dehydrated, you should focus on repairing your moisture barrier which means that you should be trapping moisture into your skin, skip exfoliating for now, thats just making the issue worse

if u have eczema flares use takrolimus or hydrocortisone, both prescription based and for moisture purposes look into la roche posay lipikar and aveeno, they both focus on moisturizing and dry skin

i dont even have eczema on my face (at least noticeably) but it just reaches the same level of dryness thats impossible to deal with
im not trying out things at random tho, just to be clear, i am looking into everything i do thoroughly. but its so much i wish i didnt have skin. i  prfer the eczema bc treating that is straight forward n familiar

i did use a lot of la roche posay while on accutane and it seemed to work well but its so goddamn expensive its not feasible to keep up with. my biggest skincare expense is like, cliniderm sunscreen which is so much but its the only one ive found so far that doesnt trigger my (body) eczema
