it's tiring and people are dumb.

considering quitting after the summer but that's not what i promised them when i applied (said i could work during the christmas break and they also said that they wanted me to show up at work around 1-2 times per week during my studies when they start again), so have to try and get out of here smootly to not ruin the contact i have made. not 100% sure if i want to quit but it feels like the smart thing to do... but also slightly shitty towards my boss and they will agree to the fact
Thats the problem with contracts

I have a cna (certified nursing assistant) certificate. Its nothing fancy or intensive, it's just a 6 week course lol. I only got it cuz the company I wanted to work for pays CNAs more even tho I'm technically a direct support professional (dsp) which is a fancy way of saying caregiver for the disabled. Also if I wanted to puruse home health a CNA would be an entryway

I didn't want to pay for mine, so I went through a company that trains you in 3 weeks and then contracts you to work for 6 months after passing the test. I failed mine and therefore didnt get the job. I'm glad cuz I realized nursing home work isnt for me. It would of sucked to be contracted to a job I would of hated.

Also I paid only $97 to retake the exam. Would of paid $1200 if I went to school for it. I think I won.
yeah i'm not contracted to it but it was kind of written between the lines that i should work there more than just during the summer...

glad u didn't get the job, 6 months is a long time with a job u r not that into..!

Ssounds like your contract is more of a social one than anything you're legally bound to, correct?

Honestly I'd try to stick it out until at least after the holidays, but if it takes too much of a toll, part ways if you're not obligated on paper (if I got that nursing home job after graduation I'd of had to stay lol legally).

When you decide to leave I'd be honest, admit it's not a good fit, and offer to help with recruiting a replacement. I'd mention this in your resignation letter as well. It's a way to be courteous and not screw them over without screwing yourself over.

If you need the reference or experience, definitely stick it out until they've found a good replacement. Otherwise, fuck em and leave if you need to for your wellbeing

yeah i think it was important for them to find more people for the summer and i've done a good job but damn it's sooo draining. it's like, customer service but the government is making it available for people (everyone) with a customer problem, so we give guidance in their legal rights kind of. and some people are so duuuumb and my patience is sliiiiiim and oh my lord i get so drained is all

but yes sounds like i should try to stick it out for some time but i just want to be a student again. but maybe it can be worth it to stick it out until after this christmas. i will have to think about it... i wonder if they will be a decent reference if i leave in like, october... because that would be dope loool

thanks for your input, i rly need to hear what other are thinking about this !!

Sounds like a good fit for you actually

I can tell you a caregiver in a group home for disabled adults is a great fit for me. You were right. I fucking love my job.

Does it require any licensing or degrees to be a preschool teacher in the us

i think it depends on which state youre in

i have two offers right now at different preschools as 'assistant' teacher so like i wont be THE adult in charge in the room and i can see how i like it

i had an interview this morning and i was NOT ready for them to throw me in a classroom to 'see how i interact' with the kids and wehn i was leaving the kids were like 'will you come back tomorrow' and im like oh my god please this is so manipulative lmfao they got the kids recruiting the teachers lmfao

idk this job has low pay but its a nonprofit organization so like these kids are the kids of teenagers mostly lmfao

your position is probably pretty low pay but high meaningfulness, too right????

I'm pathetic and can't work a normal job without having anxiety attacks every day so I'm trying to get a remote job. Unfortunately my laptop broke so I have to wait for my hubby to get a new one. :/

i am working a 8.30-15.30 job atm and i'm barely surviving. no anxiety but i just crash everyday after work. also, studying in a field where you are expected to work like, 50-60 hour weeks or get a boring job ahaaa

so, i feel you, even if it isn't the same but yeah
i can't wrap my head around the fact that this is what is "normal" because i am barely surviving

What products and/or companies do you represent for clients?

I can handle dumb customers. Mean customers however? I cannot. I worked in a call center that served outbound credit card calls for a bank. I had a mini panic attack... not even joking, my chest hurt so bad during a call once... Idk how i even made it through the call! The lady was incredibly pissed so I was terrified. Afterwards she complimented my supervisor on my "excellent customer service." LOL WTF

I ended up getting fired. I couldn't handle it. Lol

If I were you I'd be asking everyone I know if they'd be interested in your position, and if they know someone else who may be. Help em find a replacement before you bounce. It would benefit both you and your employer.

Or, you know, fuck capitalism and just leave. Whatever you prefer. References are nice tho, that's how employers entice you to stay lol

i can find a replacement pretty easily i think, atleast i know one who would love to work there next summer. but that's a good advice actually, i will look into it when (if) i decide!! thanks

ahaha yeah i only took this job for the reference actually. i later on realised i would be broke if i didn't so it was good in that way too but yeah XD

A resident always asks me to come back when I leave and to not be gone for too long lol

That sounds like a valuable service. I was born to a teenage mom who left her bf 6 weeks after I was born... you tend to not get great access to education in those sorts of circumstances. I'm glad programs exist to provide it

I also work for a non profit! Its goal is to offer occupational and recreational services to people with disabilities in addition to housing.

The pay is alright..  I make $19.50 an hour, which is more than what the nursing home offered me... tho it only works out to about 36k net, + the insurance is shit. The nursing home insurance was better.

However I'm able to provide a higher standard of care here than I would at a nursing home and its not nearly as back breaking so I'm fine with just getting by. The reward is worth it.

I'm considering going back to school for social work but I may try to climb up the company ranks instead. We'll see.

Ah ok. My role was more specific. I answered outbound calls for credit cards, so I dealt with fees, interest rates, ect. I hated it and only lasted 3 months. I got fired for poor performance. Too much anxiety lol. I couldn't imagine providing legal aide to angry people, fuck that.

Consider sticking it out til summer then, but if you get so burned out its affecting your health or performance, look elsewhere. It's good you're working on finding a replacement, that will help you get the good reference you need

I volunteered to work in another group home for a few hours tomorrow, which will be interesting.

I adore the home I was assigned to work in and think it's the perfect fit for me.

However there are 7 others, so this will be an interesting way to get variety, without feeling like I'm abandoning the residents I serve

One of the saddest things about the work I do is knowing how many people have bounced in and out of their lives

I do want a taste of the other homes tho to see what they're like
