I do believe that ADHD and autism exist on the same spectrum but I'm not an academic so my beliefs are just my own lol

but also the environment makes the disability and we live in an environment where the world isnt safe for anyone who is divergent in any way.

ugh im so frustrated with the whole system right now
the fact that theres an entire profile of autism based on wanting autonomy and not wanting to be bossed around esp when you don't understand what for
is enough for me to want to barf
we live in a dystopia

I stopped taking the meds 6 days ago and caved in a few mins ago because I think I'd actually rather die than suffer through my completely debilitating allergies.
I've been having severe allergy attacks on and off for over 24 hours at this point and can't sleep because I'm sneezing up to 20 times per minute

so yeah
I guess I'll just take the side effects and remain crazy because I can't live like this

Based on how debilitating it is I'm starting to wonder if all this time I've just had asthma and nobody noticed.
I'm going to try and get a referral sometime next month I just have so many doctors appointments coming up (including wearing a heart monitor in sept.) that I just don't have the energy to add anything to it right now.

But yeah I don't want to ignore it but I definitely can't stop that medication the way I thought I could.

I just feel so terrible. I don't understand what allergy-attacks feel like to other people but for me it is the most miserable and debilitating thing that happens to my body.

I would not be surprised if even after talking to a specialist they determine that the benefits outweigh the side effects in the end.
But back when I was put on this medication they prescribed it a lot more frequently than they do now, so I never really tried anything else so there's got to be some other stuff to test out.

my sister has had so many changes in how her allergies are handled over the years. there are other options for you.

so now that I'm breathing again
lol

Yesterday I was deep cleaning and dusting to try and mitigate the allergy issues I was having, and it clearly triggered an insane attack.
Honestly, looking back I think a sane person would have gone to urgent care because I was literally struggling to breathe - but hey, I never said I was smart.

Now I'm considering that I may need to hire someone to come move furniture and clean behind it and deep dust every month or so but my home is so old and just, full of perma-dirt, that I feel like a cleaner would find it a waste.
The carpet is 30 years old, the paint is old and dust sticks to the trim, all my counters and sinks are permanently stained.
(my landlords have kept my rent at $375 because they know all this, and they know I'll be the last tenant before this house is completely gutted/remodeled, or more likely, torn down)
so like I need help but I also feel like I do not know how to ask for it.

(also, physically, I should not be moving furniture to clean behind it at all, but it needs to be done)

I'm kinda bothered that my meds were not reassessed with this new research tho because it literally states to not prescribe it for allergies anymore unless nothing else works.
I never tried like, the shots or anything
like these people really just send in refills wihtout even thinking about it
the bottle still has my old doctors name on it, too, every month when I pick it up.
a doctor i havent seen since 2020
I switched clinics over a year ago
Dont they make the prescription for a couple of years, so it can still be from the same doctor even if u switched doctor, idk

I think it depends on the medication.
This is the type of medication that if someone needs it, they're probably going to be on it for the rest of their life, which is probably why they just keep filling it without checking in.

Where it gets weird, is that the FDA no longer recommends prescribing it for allergies because the side effects outweigh the benefits in most allergy situations. I guess maybe when I moved from my first clinic, to the second (I'm now on my third clinic), no one told them why I was on the medication? maybe they just assumed I had asthma, which is what it's for, rather than allergies.

Hm my prescriptions if I look them up online, they say smth abt why Ihave them too, like my allergy meds said "for itching" or smth and not just for allergies, stuff like that, but mby its not the same in the us or for every doctor here even.
I just know w my birth control I have a prescription for 3 years until it has to be renewed (I think I have to ask for that myself tho, but idk) so even if I switched doctors, I think I would still have the original prescription from the original doctor, and it would say their name on the package probably

depends how often it has to be prescribed tho

all meds r kinda fucked when u think abt it... i mean they are designed to alter something inside ur body which is why it can cause a plethora of side effects + why u can't b certain what happens to u bc our body chemistries r different, so u have to try and try until u find something that doesn't completely fuck u over. u change one thing that ur body is struggling with and it can (rather, usually will) cause a chain reaction of other bs which u may or may not detect by urself

i'm currently on like. an autism evaluation while my current diagnosis is avpd,, and the thing is like. there's so many overlappings

my assessment where they told me about my medication was actually an assessment for autism which I was told I didn't have any cognitive markers for.

however the rest of the report made no sense, said I was an alcoholic (I hardly drink), that I overreported all my symptoms, and that I'm preoccupied/obsessed with my poor health (I'm disabled and it affects every part of my life)

so I'm kinda not listening to the assessment like, at all lol
the only valuable thing I got from it was learning that I may have been having side effects to this medication for several years without realizing it

Yeah, meds or really any form of medical treatment, always have risks or potential side effects, because otherwise they probably wouldn't work either, because they wouldn't actually do anything in ur body yeah? Weird stuff but alas

I started them in my early 20s while I was in college too so any weird side effects or changes to my mood/emotional regulation I always just chalked up to being in college and in bad relationships.
now in hindsight its possible it was all of the above lol
