Thing is you ain't really just gonna roll into kentucky and "find moonshine" you gotta know someone.
it's like trying to buy weed, really.

I used to travel out to the boonies where my partners (now ex's) dad lived, poorest county here, no police force, his driveway was like a solid mile long, to pick up a case of shine and bring it back to town and sell it.

I no longer have a moonshine hookup which is a bummer. 
but I've tried several folks moonshine and his was the best.

One time, my ex, who was an HVAC service tech, got tipped on the job with a small bottle of 'shine and it was the nastiest 'shine we ever had. Like they didn't pour off the heads when distilling.

(like, sounds stupid, but i urge everyone to do these things that you weren't "allowed" to as a child just once. Like having sweets before lunch, staying up late all night reading on top of your covers because no one's coming to yell at you. Buy yourself food just because it looks pretty. It's so stupid but if you are able to, it has a certain once in a lifetime charm I feel. Plus usually you realise pretty fast why it wasn't allowed when you were a child and don't do it again, because it's not worth it. (Except for the ice cream for breakfast thing, that truly is a once a year occurence and should be cherrished..)
