I'm personally glad that pit bulls are banned where I live as well, but it's honestly more due to experience with inexperienced owners getting a breed like a husky, rottweiler or gsd and then not giving them the care they need, which makes them very dangerous, and I just know some of these people would've chosen a pit if possible.
I def agree the average dog owner doesnt have the skills or knowledge needed to own APBTs or staffys. I dont think breed bans are always the answer but i understand why you feel that way. where i live there are no breed bans even for apartments, lots of pittys. i have an American Pitbull Terrier/American Bulldog mix and shes dog aggressive, but i also know what the fuck im doing and can keep her and everyone around us safe.
i would def be biased and probably think differently if id ever had a bad experience with pittys but i just havent! been working w dogs for 10 years and ive only gotten badly bit once and it was by a bernese. those fuckers r strong and i still refuse to work with them without a behavior consult first lol
I don't think banning them are the answer either, but I know we'll never get education as a requirement for owning a dog, so I guess it's the next best thing in that scenario. I don't mind any dog breed as long as their owners know what they're doing and they've given the dog the training and fulfilment it needs, but unfortunately a lot of "known aggressive breeds" usually end up in the hands of inexperienced people who probably should've gotten a lap dog instead.
