i have a question
i got my second lobe piercing done (first lobe was done when i was a baby) in june/july this year, and the piercer told me that i can change the earrings after a week. so i removed them to apply more oil and it got infected, causing a part of my piercing stud to get under my skin (skin started to grow over it)
i went to a doctor, he removed the piercings and now the hole is fully closed, but there is still a spot marking where the hole used to be.
i met with my doctor today, he said that i could get a piercing done at the same spot in dec, but he said that he wouldnt recommend it. i asked him about the other areas of my ear too, he said that i can get it pierced, but that he wouldnt recommend it either.
are the chances of infection higher for future piercings if i already had such an infection? should i get it pierced or not? what do you guys think?
second time to pop-in, i thought i've closed this tab but it's always okay to look for second opinions.
it's one person against more, u CAN get any piercing but if the infection persists then i would take their word for it.

the only way it gets infected is either,
1. your body hates you and you have terrible immunity to take care of it.
2. it naturally gets infected since it's an open wound.
3. you constantly touch it with unwashed hands to a point it's gross & irritated.
4. unprofessional establishment that does not care for sterilization of medical instruments.

it all just depends though, we work differently than one another but if you DO WISH to get another piercing & worry for infections then i would recommend buying H2Ocean since it's a notable brand to treat fresh piercings immediately OR head down to your (DIFFERENT) doctor & have a conversation with them about an alternative solution with your infections.

doctors are smart, sure, but it's always okay to look for second opinions than rely on one if you're reaaally trying to get another piercing.

have you tried fake piercings though?

you won't really get the feeling of an actual piercing since the magnet causes pressure against your skin but if you temporarily would like to try one out i'd look into it more than an actual piercing that would really cost more to have + take care of.

hmm... i think i will get a second opinion from a different doctor then... that's what my sister recommended too, its probably safe that way
i actually have a few clip on piercings, but i dont use them because they are not my taste... i will consider what you told me! thank you!

sounds like you took them out way early, also wtf ... oil??? i would go to another place. im not a piercer but even i know that is bad. (not that you'd have to know if the place told you to do so im just mad at the place that told you so)

edit: also infections can linger so i would wait like a few years before getting them again

ik it sounds weird but applying oil is very common here! they say it helps with any inflammation and stuff, so many people use it along with turmeric to promote healing
idk why the piercer told me i could remove it after a week tho, i shouldve thought twice before doing it... since i dont have much experience i thought that should work. but after the incident and a lot of research it makes sense that i removed it too early before it even healed, and that is why it was infected

even just leaving it alone is better than putting stuff on it; i pierced my own ears with random earings and i just left them to heal and it worked??? until i started to stretch them after like a year and i got a blowout <3 (edit: not recommending it hurt like a b bc obviously and i was a dumb teenager)

anyway! im sure oils can be good for healing but i have never heard of it here for piercings since wounds and ear holes are VERY different healing wise. i know neem oil has been used in my dads feet when he had diabetes related wounds there. anyway..... i would really go ask another piercer(s) about that, since doctors mostly dont want people to get piercings anyway (in my experience)

Tru but who to trust, and even if they're trustworthy it's too expensive for some hole in my head lol

I was always told with my lobes (I've got 3 in each ear), that you shouldn't change is before 6 weeks (I had do, because I'm allergic to most metals, so I changed it, but still long bar), and clean twice a day. They also told ne to twist it (but my piercer later told ne to not do that).

Also, you shouldn't put oil or anything on your healing wound, just saline solution

i have 3, now 1 (atm).

i wanted more but too much surgical steel hanging off my skin would ruin my complexion.

my ears are pierced but i've never decided to buy accessories for my ears, however i do have 1 but i'll let users think about that if they want.

it makes me feel terrible just mentioning it.
hhahahah love that.

Hello my piercing friends. Is it normal for my piercing to stick to my skin? I was a few days ago with yellowish transparent mucus, I thought it was infection, but the internet said it was lymph or something like that and that it was good, it means that the skin is healing. But I was paranoid, I put antibacterial ointment, and the next day it was better, as if it was drier and it didn't hurt at all. Now I have been a few days that the piercing sticks to my skin and only moves when I clean it with the saline solution that moisturizes it. It does not hurt, although it is still a little red. And it is true that the wound seems to suppurate a little, but it does not seem infected. Is it because it is healing or do I have an internal infection?
