if u have low IQ because of ur autism, how would you call that then in english?
if someone has low iq u say they have low iq
so saying low functioning is offensive but saying low iq is not? even though when u have a low iq u are simply low functioning? jesus ppl are too sensitive these days

i'm not saying leave nonbinary people out of the discussion i'm saying they're separate discussions, you can be trans but not nonbinary, you can be nonbinary and not trans or whatever but like hmmm

i think the conflation of the two groups gives people who essentially have no difference to their cis counterparts other than using nonstandard pronouns give to claim identity points and it sort of cheapens the discussion

Maybe my issue isn't so much actually the two groups being under the same umbrella I just think the needs of nonbinary/trans individuals who sort of actually live outside of the cis experience in meaningful, concrete ways should be prioritized

(Am i truscum??? What does that even mean??)
But why should they be a separate discussion if they need the same things/if the needs overlap?

What are meaningful, concrete ways? What does prioritizing mean in this context? Transphobes don't care if you are binary trans or nonbinary, who do you cater to with this separation, do you see concrete things that will change for the better if you split binary and non binary trans people in 2 smaller groups
? What effect would it have on eg legislation that would protect trans people?
i don't really have a well formed argument on this because like, these are sort of questions i ask myself and often don't know the answers to

i think yes there's overlap but maybe the distinction I'm making is probably poisoned by my experience at a liberal arts college where a lot of people literally just like, put they/them in their instagram bio and would be like "ok we are the same you and i" and would come to trans/nb spaces and like literally talk over us or derail discussions

like when i'm saying "meaningful separation" i mean like, coming out to your parents/family, changing how you present yourself, maybe transitioning medically

talking it out i don't think the distinction i'm making is between trans and nonbinary but between lived experiences and ugh i hate using this term "trenders", who often co opt the nonbinary label i guess, and at what point does the umbrella lose its meaning when it encompasses such wide variety of experience?

but also maybe i'm just blaire white-ing / kalvin garrah-ing
I understand the frustration and there are people who do it to be special or whatever, but honestly this harsh separation won't do any good in my opinion because policing identities as if they were disorders is a step in the wrong direction. There was legislation that literally forced trans people to be sterilized before they were allowed to change the gender markers on their ids in my country not so long ago.

It's a complicated topic but nonbinary people are not binary trans people's enemies, many of us have dysphoria, are not taken seriously, denied health care,...
A german friend told me that they had to tell their therapist that they are a trans guy in order to get top op and my therapist wasn't taking me serious either.

Honestly, saying you have to transition, have bad dysphoria, etc to be trans won't do any good, it just forces people to make decisions they maybe don't even want to make

Honestly why is it a big deal if a person is confused and realizes they're straight or cis later down the road
