If you let go of the rules, that would mean it would be the community's choice of how to respond. As of right now, there is no choice.

If somebody is being obnoxious and wanting to cause trouble, the user-base can chose to encourage that person (by responding to them) or dis-encourage simply by ignoring them. Current rules forbid that behavior in the first place.

I don't mean to be insensitive but if you cannot handle a negative atmosphere and you become mentally distraught from online forums, maybe the internet isn't the best place for you. What you might need instead is a friend-group that share the same boundaries as you do and not a public forum that is open to anyone.

gross, I don't become mentally distraught from this but it's not fun to be around ? like, vp is generally for socialising and amusement purposes

Interesting, philodendrons are generally chill from my experience. 
I have a brazil too, I propagated it from family friends' plant, it's pretty cute. I love trailing plants too but they're hard to place. I have one on a pole (monstera adansonii), one on a shelf (marble queen pothos) and a few hanging (micans, a hoya and a sad but living ceropegia). Maybe I should make more hangers hmmm
that's what i find weird because my other philodendrons are chill and have been thriving, but the lemon limes are like goodbye i die now 
to be fair tho, my gloriosum lost three leaves almost instantly, but it has a new one so it's alive and that's all that matters (sadly only two leaves on the plant and the other one is ugly) 
i have trailing plants a bit here and there, i'm stressing about how to do things when i inevitably have to move, but it's not stopping me from buying even more plants
