If you let go of the rules, that would mean it would be the community's choice of how to respond. As of right now, there is no choice.
If somebody is being obnoxious and wanting to cause trouble, the user-base can chose to encourage that person (by responding to them) or dis-encourage simply by ignoring them. Current rules forbid that behavior in the first place.
I don't mean to be insensitive but if you cannot handle a negative atmosphere and you become mentally distraught from online forums, maybe the internet isn't the best place for you. What you might need instead is a friend-group that share the same boundaries as you do and not a public forum that is open to anyone.
but why would you allow it
freedom of expression?Ā
like you can indeed ignore them but no one actually doesgross, I don't become mentally distraught from this but it's not fun to be around ? like, vp is generally for socialising and amusement purposes
But that's not my problem. I cannot control how other choose to respond. I just think that everyone should have the right to express themselves. Even those who disagree with me in this thread, I would never try to silence them even if I don't like what they're saying.
Let's use something as simple as slurs for example. Remember when using slurs was the norm in forums? Everyone used them irregardless of their race, sexuality, sex and you-name-it.
Nobody took them seriously because everybody used them. What do you think would be the reaction if I started using slurs in this community? You don't think people here would get distraught or upset over that?
oh my godddd
