it used to trigger me so bad when people pretended to have mental illness, cause i'd give out my organs for free to feel normal again, or atleast healthier.
Now I just dont care, mental illnesses come and go as trends.
my old friend literally told me she's faking having panic attacks to ditch school when she didnt feel like going and i was like ok.....
oh hell no, i get major anxiety n have panic attacks over what may seem like the smallest shit but to me its huge,
if someone were to ever tell me that i would literally beat their ass. that shit is NOT fun.

isn't faking a mental illness a mental illness itself?
no, not if you're 14 and doing it because everyone else do
but yeah there's something called munchhausens syndrome but it mostly goes for somatic illnesses because these people mostly crave attention from doctors, nurses etc

i think they want attention and they want somebody to care and be a little easier on them
... so why don't we just give them some attention, care a little about them and quit being so hard? they're kids ffs and kids need care and attention

otherwise they might turn into veepee user scoff

i mean i get the kids on this one, i really do
sometimes when you're a person without actual passion, without talents, without anything that make you stand out from the crowd or be even a little bit 'different', faking shit is all you've got
me personally i was never smart enough to pretend shit lol i'd go online telling everyone i wanted to be fucked up instead uhm yeah
but i get them

i'm 24 and still everything i want is to stand out from the crowd, to be different, to have something about me that makes people want to give me attention but since i'm an adult, i can handle it quite well most of the time. at 14 i couldn't. i'd never expect these 14 y/o's to do either.

it's actually a whole phenomenen - the tic spreading and did systems popping  up everywhere on tiktok
tics are much more common than people think

yeah but i'm talking abt kids that see 1 tiktok and suddenly they're self diagnosed w a 1000000 different tics and symptoms
seeing tics can trigger getting them. Thankfully they often go away with time but honestly i don't see a reason to care about people faking their tics.

i was wondering the same. Very confusing. I can see you how you could mix other things up with tics but if you're just faking your tics, you wouldn't get any advantages with that. You would just have to constantly focus on doing them and what would you gain with that?

I saw someone talk abt it on tiktok, w like everyone suddenly getting tourettes (?), But she said she got it from seeing everyone else have it, idk how that works but I guess its possible. Also yes, faking tics seem extremely tiring n also just hard to fake n keep going w it all

imo it's hard to know if ppl are faking tho unless they specifically tell you how they came to the "conclusion" aka just telling you they googled it or something lmao - i trust my psyc doctors to tell me what up and currently they're like "ummm we don't know exactly how but you're fucked". they should too, bc it can be potentially dangerous for them to start "mimicking" these symptoms

like i remember tulpas being a fad at some point and the way ppl described their experiences sounded super alarming

Yes! I do think it's quite common to get tics from seeing other people having them. It's why I avoid tourettes tiktok because the more i see them the more i think about them and the more i get them. Very tiring. Theres also other triggers like stress, so no wonder they're getting more common. The current corona situation is extremely stressfull and made mine way worse. Around 20% of children get tics so people just seem to have not known how common they are and now that they see them they just instantly question people having tics.

Yeah I have tics but its not very extreme so its like ok n mostly just when im stressed yes, but I don't see how saying I have tics is self diagnosing w tics lol, mby if I said I have tourettes or smth I would get it, but only tics, no

yes! Tics are normal why would you even need a diagnosis for them. You know if you know. Especially since there's not really much you can do about them.

if you need so much attention that you will literally fake having something that makes people who actually have it suffer, then perhaps you should get a hobby that will get positive attention without making a costume out of a mental illness
