fat people are wonderful
and being healthy doesnt make you a better person than an unhealthy person, whether it be by choice or not
Because it's visibly unhealthy? But yeah, people should mind their own damn business.
in some cases it is ""visibly unhealthy"" but it is not actually unhealthy. and if its unhealthy, it's not anyone else's business indeed.. i don't give a shit if ur fat as long as u dont cry about being unhealthy and do nothing about it
except we don't know as some research indicate that weight alone doesn't really say anything about health rather than.. your weight.. surprisingly

but you dont know a single thing about a fat person's health
ppl need to unlearn that gut reaction to fat ppl
People who are visibly obese are unhealthy in that regard, there's nothing to unlearn here.

okay so when i look up 'why are trans women real women' i see two general stances that are repeated often

1) trans women should be considered women as a way to redefine what being a 'woman' is. through social context primarily, but perhaps also scientific? although i haven't found any essays on that front

2) trans women have a different experience than women. for example when it comes to the fact that trans women are more likely to be in danger of a hate crime

so here is my confusion, on one hand, some trans women do not want to be perceived differently than other women, but they do want society to acknowledge that there is a difference in privilege when it comes to the treatment of either. why is that not a contradictory statement?

Ithink it's similar to how women of color are still women obviously, but their experience of womanhood and how they are treaded because of being women is going to be different than white women and therefore that difference also needs to be acknowledged
it's an interesting comparison but i don't think it's a fair one. woman of color pertains to ethnicity, and that can't be compared with trans women

Because people are dumb. But I don't think that's true, people are often bullied and ridiculed for being anorexic or just generally underweight.

No but it is one of the things that ppl can see on a person that they will b in the future or already have problems cus if their weight, even tho u can have problems if ur skinny too, its just easier to see it when ur fat, cus just by being fat u have a much higher risk of getting different stuff. And ppl do care abt smoking etc too (esp lately anyway) but idk, I think working against overweight on a global scale or at least in western countries more would b good (tho also other stuff, like smoking n excessive drinking, too much body fat for ur weight etc)

some people argue that it is their business, because if you live in a country with universal healthcare that's funded by the tax payers, they feel like they have a say in this too

but then riddle me this: why does no one care about smokers??????

(just stating an argument, I don't think it is true and I feel like if you want to have a certain body type and choose to be this, you should do it, it's your body, your health, your future. sucks if you have a disease that keeps you on an extreme - either fat or super thin - and you didn't get to choose being so, but that's just life being a dick to people on a daily basis because it can)

fatphobia only exists because we as a society have been conditioned to see skinny as beautiful and fat as ugly. it's all about 'oh that person is ugly to me' and they hide it in the guise of 'i care about your health'. fatphobia has nothing to do with health concern

Yeah it seems like ppl forget what skinny ppl get at them sometimes, comparing battles aint rlly a good idea cus ur just hating on someone more for their body by undermining their struggle too
