What is your style tho? Out of curiosity.

one day I’ll wear lily Pulitzer
with heels and a cute bag
and the next day
it’s ivy park meets 90’s B girl
accessories are a must
but only specific pieces

I think in general it could be a combination of all those things you listed. I’d say that money for most would be the primary obstacle. All other things you listed require time and energy, especially thrifting and researching, which some may argue indirectly falls under the money category since you could spend that effort on something that will yield money either in the long run by studies or instantly by work, not that everything is about money but now i’m making one more point about money bc i think shopping sustainably isn’t made too easy for consumers as it isn’t the most profitable model for businesses

anyway thrifting is fun i like it😎👌

Sounds like london has some core pieces that always work and hold up to time and then some cheaper trendy pieces to add some spice spice

mostly that it's just quite expensive, because most of the clothes in stores are still made by children or underpaid workers.
And those brands trying to greenwash themselves by using more sustainably made fabrics, when tbf the only way to stop the fucking waist of the fashion industry would be to recycle and reuse. (We only wear our clothing 7 times on average)
Also, personally, i'm just trying to buy slow fashion, not whats in season or whatever, fk the whole fast fashion industry

The reason i am asking are some of the reasons you are mentioning yourself. I want to collect information that is going to make it much easier to make good choices bc you have the tools to do so without a lot of work yourself bc the info u need is already gathered for u. It's like if u go into ANy store, that you can take a look at the label of a garment or two and be able to decide which is the better choice depending on your need that day and garment composition. The goal is to aim to collect the tools  needed to decide stuff like that, care for ur garment, etc in a way that most ppl can apply it in some degree to what they buy/own no matter the lifestyle or where they buy from. And to explain the importance of it, and the whyfore bc a lot of ppl are still oblivous to it, or don't know where to find the info they need.

I also aim to do it norway based bc I know a lot of the older demographic here suck at English, shop relatively lavishly but don't have the access or skills to decide what's the more sustainable choices. And bc most stuff u read is uk or us based already.  we also love our ff and ppl generally donr suffer from being asked to shop a little less

And its obvi for the ppl who care abt the topic like if ppl wanna care abour something else and put this on the backburner it is entirely fine bc i do that w other important things too
i know my answer is probably frustrating from your perspective but its a real answer to the question. the answer for me is that all of the barriers are currently insurmountable and in order for me to even be motivated to shop more sustainably there would need to be systemic overhauls in our society. like that's an actual answer to waht you're asking here even if its like a shitty answer to you.  i do think sustainable goals are more realistic in your part of the world than mine.

its definitely lack of information for me, the info brands and stores give on their own is usually.... questionable, like i may not understand all the eco jargon, but i know when things are being deliberately vague. hell i stopped shopping at a local secondhand shop for a while bc their only information was "earnings get donated to a good cause" (the secondhand shop there before were funding missionary missions like) with no further info. (turned out to be a good donation when they posted what theyd donated it to at the end of the year, so im back now. but still. i can trust info i do not like but i cannot trust lack of info)

i dont mind saving up for things, sizing is rarely a problem for me and i can use most things bc im the brand of emo where i just throw on a belt and some spikes and then everything looks good to me

n i will always advocate for learning basic mending and alteration on ur own, standard sizing is a mess and seams rip on purpose and being able to fix it or do preventative alteration is like, THE most necessary thing every. i have decade old basic h&m tees and jeans that looks perfectly good. ive only ripped one pair of jeans in my life and they lasted 7 years before they did so. learn to sew ppl!!!! the skills needed to fiddle with pre-made clothing are so simple and nothing like full blown article making

I prefer bying secondhand,  but I think that one big reason why other people don't buy secondhand is because they want 'newer' things - which are, to be fair, probably less likely to break quickly; and because they want more branded clothing.

I think however that if people saw secondhand clothes like I do: that the clothes are rarer because there's probably no more clothes like them in the stores, atleast not anymore.
That they would see it as more of an opportunity than simply as buying old clothes, and then maybe they'd be more likely to go with second hand?
