Proportion, doesn't fit the face, we are biologically programmed to see symmetry and good proportions as 'beautiful' bc of all that breeding stuff
so we should all strive to be perfect & conform to social expectations of beauty and hate everything else?
No, but we shouldn't act like there aren't ugly people and if those want to change their appearance act like they go against God or are bad people bc they don't love their body,...
It's hypocrisy when pretty people sit on a high horse and campaign against plastic surgery and how you should just accept and love your natural face, when they never faced any disadvantages bc of it
Beauty is different from people to people. Either way the beauty standards are changing all the time. What people see as pretty now may not be the the real deal in 20 yrs

i feel like you just come from a deep place of insecurity. it's not right for you to say there are ugly people and 'pretty people don't understand you'. everyone is ugly to someone and everyone is pretty to someone. there is convential attractiveness but no objective ugly and beauty. what you call 'beautiful proportions' is also ugly to some.
idk that mathematical formula, that 3,16 thing or whatever i don't do maths are usually attractive to everyone, we like when thing is proportional, everything that isn't is like "wrong" and unsettling

and then the next thread it's like ohh this celeb is uglyyyy he just not hot 😒
they're just like ah ugly doesn't exist, sorry but that's objectively wrong, ugly does exist and i'm sure there are individuals which would overall be perceived as ugly by the vast majority. that's how it is, it annoys me that people try to act like it isn't like that.

also no, beauty is not from within stop lying @ everyone.
"everyone is beautiful in their own way"

Do you feel that's a lie, meant for ugly people to feel better about themselves?

And by that I mean, people find different things attractive

if you say beauty is what the majority finds attractive, then morality is also what the majority finds okay. but that's not true either. morality is also different for everyone

Well it's hard because I go like "ew this guy is fucking ugly" and then i look at him for a while and then i'm like now i like that

most people in the past thought that killing animals for food was completely normal but now that's also changed. morality changes despite what the majority thinks, so does beauty. thus there's no objective beauty.

no, what i'm saying now is that for example it's overall prettier if someone is proportional, it's odd if someone has one arm that's like 1,20 meters long and one arm that's 1 meter long. it's weird if one of your eyes is placed at the middle of your head and the other one is next to your mouth

no, but not lying is superior to acting like there isn't ugly/pretty existing in this world
ugly exists as a social concept but it's not an absolute, inherent feature of people. if you believe in living your life according to social expectations of beauty then self love doesn't apply to that situation and the question of "is plastic surgery self love?" is irrelevant.

i don't agree with the social concept of pretty like what's considered pretty now is no offence really ugly to me, it's really unnatural and disgusting i'm like ew : ) but ofc we have individual taste, but saying ugly doesn't exist is a lie.

hm i think it's interesting what this topic has shifted to. even though i disagree w u i think the whole argument about whether beauty is objective or not is one that's been discussed through the ages and we can't really answer that.

just saying "plastic surgery" is too broad.

Some people get plastic surgery to fix for example a nose that was smashed in a car accident so that they can actually breathe again.

Some people are born with disfigurements that lead to severe bullying, shame and isolation and get surgery so they can walk outside and improve their life quality drastically.

So i'd halfway disagree and say that plastic surgery is in fact empowering, but unnecessary and extensive plastic surgery is not.

also wow im late to this soz if the topic has changed completely

nobody is saying they're bad people. we're saying they don't practice self love/body positivity in the way it's defined in this context. that's all.
