i also posted this on r/notliketheothergirls and it kinda makes me mad how a lot of NLOGS have gone so far as to cycle back to misogyny again

www.reddit.com/r/notliketheothergirls/comments/ufmtnk/what_do_we_think_of_this_elaboration_in_com...

to copy my comments:

I have seen a trend of this, not particularly on this subreddit which is rather reasonable, but in general, of people anti-NLOGging so hard that we seem to have cycled back around to becoming NLOGs.
I think Sarah Z made a very good analysis on the NLOG phenomenon and I can highly recommend her video on it, which discusses internalized mysogyny, but I also wanted to highlight it here.I

t boils down to this: every decision a woman makes is at the danger of being reframed to center around the man. Even when she's not seeking the attention of a man, her inattention is reframed to be a coy way to signal "look at how I'm not like the other girls here! pick me!"I do think it's also a form of internal mysogyny, to look to other women being different and immediately think "they're doing it for attention" instead of it being a genuine expression. It's understandable because as women we are socialized to be performers for the male gaze.

I do often see posts on this sub that are very obviously either satire or just a lighthearted joke not intended to take other women down. And I think that's fitting for the argument I am trying to make.

kind of going on a tangent here but, this also ties in with how abby shapiro is treated by men. she's a conservative relative to ben shapiro whom we all love to hate. yet the way men who hate her react to her is by sexually harrassing her. instead of attacking her points, which is what you should be doing, they ridicule her appearance. and i notice it often with how the public treats women they disagree with. their appearance is the first laughing stock. and it's a testament to misogyny, how even in hatred ur physical appearance is more important than your actual points

people dont actually care about abby shapiro they use her as a tool to harass ben. and he literally makes it so easy. of course this is a Woman as Object situation where she's like not her own person she's just a facet of a man's life. but its like not even about her it's about harassing ben.

i mean please x why the fuck did he say this lmfao this is hilarious
this tweet was fake right?

but yes, misogyny is often justified when it happens to be a woman we don't like.
 it's fake omg

i mean to say that like its not even a woman we dont like its a MAN we dont like so we justify the misogyny against a female we consider to like Belong to him. we hate amber heard so misogyny against her is justified and we hate ben shapiro so misogyny against his sister is justified.

yes exactly. it's the same way men will often make fun of women but just put 'white' before it so it's funny.

shame and ridicule yes, largely reinforced by the patriarchy. which is reinforced by men.
I don't get it though, what's your point, that because men are (maybe) the ones reinforcing the distrust in male victims that it's like, okay? That they deserve it or have it coming because they're also men? I know that's not your point maybe probably but what is?
no that's not my point at all. i'm saying that a large part of the reason why men fear coming forward is because of other men. yes women also can be victim-blamers, but since the patriarchy is upheld by men, and all the stereotypes that come with it (men always want sex), it is largely because of men that men fear coming out as abuse victims.
I dont agree with this. If a man speaks up is more likely to not be believed by women. I actually know women who think men cant be raped by women. Its crazy but is the thruth.

women literally cannot exist without being objectified. it sucks so hard to know that no matter what opinion or achievements u hold, ur body comes first at the scrutiny of men

I think evwryone is always like"oh no we can't criticize women for how they look poor women" and in the same breath say "ew look gross balding man with pot belly" like ok lol. That is my opinion, I think either criticize everyones looks (best option cus ppl can't help themselves) or stop alltogether even if they r like, hitler in their personality

yes i also agree w this. it's both wrong. but i do think for women, looks are far more important and judged than men.

also the sentiment that somehow this proves that amber heard is lying??? like the whole idea that suddenly everyone is a lawyer, psychologist, etc. and knows oh so well what is fake or not ??? this is exactly why abuse victims in general don't come forward bc it's textbook victim blaming
