Hold the ring and press the ball out. That is was I did with the rings I had in my lips before. 
I tried that, but its easy with lip rings. the nose hurts lmao

So if the ball is held in by pressure, 
You can either hold both sides and push on the ball (be ready it might fly across the room) 
Or you can torque it open. 

Don't bend it open,  as in don't spread the space apart,  that'll make your jewelry garbage. 
The ends on either side of the ball,  one needs to be Bent up and the other down to be Bent properly. 
I kinda recommend going to a piercer if you can.

I wear threadless flatbacks in mine and they don't get caught as long as you downsize the posts after they heal. 
The flat back goes on from the inside, then you click a gem on,  on top after you've slipped the post through. 
If you're looking for something that gets less tangled I recommend this, 
For brands;  neometal,  anatometal,  bvla,  leroi. 
They're high quality products so they are expensive, 
But I wouldnt want anything else since I have so many and cheap jewelry gives me hives. 




They also have a wide variety of gemmed tops to choose from so you can make cute color themed sets.  :p
