You didn't know if you should take him run with you. Absolytely. Try help him to find better ways to compelete the addiction need so it will not got worse. Like. Gettin' rid off afdiction is impossible when you do it that fast. You need to change your whole mindset to do that. But changing that where you put the addiction is easyer. 

Remember that you are not his mom and if he can't do it you have to accept it or walk away
I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but I do believe that you can do anything you set your mind to
I'm trying to say that if you're addicted to something you get addicted to other things easily too. And it's easyer to change addiction to something which is good than just try to stop. Go running is good idea. People don't usually call it changing addiction when you stop using nicotine and start go for a walk instead. But really that is the point. When he feel like he wants snuff then he have to think something else what to do. Ofc physical addiction is big, but if it would be the only one people who have stopped snuff/smoking would not go back to that after even many years. Addiction is very mental thing. Physical is something what mostly comes after that. He needs some other thing to be addicted, maybe running and being
