there's a million of things to hate but at least it's not expensive (but i mean i think thats one of the reasons it feels like nothing is really working)

I got a bpd diagnosis that I don't agree with too and when I tried to talk about it with my therapist, she was like "that's so bpd of you!" and "Now I'm angry!" and now I have that diagnosis on my medical record.
I only have three symptoms at best, probably only two (she interpreted me being left by friends as me fearing abandonment), meanwhile five are the required minimum to be diagnosed.
This shit is really making me mad when I think about it - all because we didn't get along with each other.
So anyway, I understand how you're feeling

yeah i agree, diagnoses should be voluntary the government doesnt need to have everything documented about a person, thats just scary

Honestly what is even better if you get hospitalised and they talk to your family they put in the documents what your "family" has said which is so furiating

1. They didn't notify me that they would take notes and but them on the documents to other psychiatrists to see 2. The person who was talking honestly lied abt everything and nothing what they said was true 3. The other psychiatrist take it as the truth and lastly l had to go so much phone calls through that l got deleted one person's lies on my documents

I'm still honestly mad at the phsych hospital workers for being so I'm competent for that happening and many other reasons  (they asked my permission to talk to my family because they can't without my permission but they never cared to inform me that they take notes)

Yeah I agree. It's weird but I get the impression that in psychology a diagnosis is just kind of meant to describe someones state in a very short time frame rather than being an actual thing that goes on for life if that makes sense. I had to go through a p shitty internal process with accepting my schizophrenia diagnosis and what that meant for my future, but now my therapists are just like oh huh, maybe we were wrong but lets keep it anyway so you get priority if you ever want to be hospitalized. like lol dude bruh come on.

oh also forgot to say that i was also diagnosed chronically suicidal some years ago and it totally freaked me out because i thought chronic meant i would just want to die every day for the rest of my life but huh, turns out chronic actually just means lasting for a year or more lmao. i haven't been suicidal like that in 4 years, but the way it was phrased just made me think i would never recover and it's weird how psychology peeps just accept it as a fact, as if us normies actually get that. in literally every other context chronic is permanent.

i also find it extremely weird the patient has so little say on what diagnosis is in their papers? if i've never recieved treatment and never will then just.... why...
Because people who haven't studied medicine shouldn't diagnose anybody, including themselves

Lacking scientific vocabulary isn't psychology's fault though

There is a difference between acute symptoms and longer lasting problems

Okay, but it should still be a thing people are being informed about. when i got the aforementioned diagnosis i was told to go home and google it lol. so yeah, more information would be great all over really. there's also not enough information about meds imo.

yeah? idk what you're trying to say here.

no that makes sense. im in training to be a school psych and depending what school district you work in, you may be diagnosing some cases. we are told to try to avoid giving labels to more "Stigmatizing" disorders and such because of.. well, stigma, especially if you have an alternative diagnosis that explains things and gets the person into attention/treatment. idk if that makes the most sense and i'm still in training, not a licensed psychologist rn.
