my brain still thinks queer is offensive. it's really hard for me to get past that one. they used to say it when they committed literal violence against my best friend in high school so when i hear it i still see the high school homophobes and bruises. like i understand intellectually that people are using it the way they use it now but i can't stop my brain from making the association with that word and violence. but if you wanna call yourself that then call yourself that not my business. i just can't shake the memories.
