I know you weren't asking me, but to me: Everyone is born equal. After that, your actions determine your "worth". If you disregard other people's rights, by openly being a racist for example, then you should be treated thereafter.
ooo I feel the same with everyone is born equal but Im still hopeful that with a communist society there wont be racism considering it evolves around capitalisms, But I think its less about worth and more about finding what youre good/passionate about you know?

But what if you are racist because of traumas or upbringing?

Clearly, context is essential. But it's not like I'm saying that there is somehow an authority who decides who is to be treated in a certain way, I was referring more to personal interactions. Like, if someone says/writes something homophobic for example, I am very much inclined not to interact any further with them.

Anyway, there are never going to be any good excuses for being a bigot. Sure, there might be more or less reasonable explanations, but still.

Well let's say that a black guy rapes you and you start to fear and avoid etc. black men. Some people also rely on more toxic defense mechanisms. I don't know, it might not be "racist" per se, but you get what I'm saying.

My dad always said that I should fear black men and that they always either rob, kill or rape you, so I did until I grew up and realized that what he said was wrong. That didn't reverse the damage done, though. I still fear them although I know I shouldn't.

that is racist and not okay. if a black man rapes someone that does excuse someone hating or fearing all black men. it's still racist. yes you're traumatised but it's on you to go to therapy and not perpetuate racial stereotypes and ruin other people's lives bc of them

Not everyone can afford therapy. And you don't necessarily ruin other people's lives by being racist, sometimes you just ruin yourself's.

I'm not saying it's ok, I'm just saying that not everyone can or have the energy or resources to deal with it. I have a lot of shit on my plate but it's not like it's just gonna go away even in 5 years. (of therapy)

+not everyone succeeds in therapy anyway.
