yeah, I can't use glass straws either because I'm afraid they will break.
at this point wood/bamboo straws sound great bc you can chew on those.

I didn't spot your comment before now 😭

That reasoning is fair. No use getting it if you don't normally use straws.

it makes everything taste disgustang
even paper straws they just fold and are so pointless (well i guess it helps the planet but honestly i'd rather take plastic straws over any of them any day)

Paper straws sucks tbh. Like they (mcdonalds in this scenario) aimed to solve a waste problem by creating paper waste instead of plastic instead of finding reusable alternatives, stop selling or at least, let people request/only use if they need one or bring their own. And then they made a paper straw than cannot even be recycled,[1] so it's still wasteful af but at least not microplastic i guess. But honestly they adressed the smallest part of plastic in their cups. They could literally redesign the whole thing and get all the plastic out of it but no. #lazy #IthinkthisgoesforStarbuckstoo

Heres something I hate about thinking evironmentally about things.
If you cannot create plastic straws and it's hard to make other types of straws ... why cant just eliminate straws?

I mean. How important is it to drink through a straw? I cannot think in any single situation where it is crucial to drink through a straw. So why even produce them? You can happily drink without a straw and be nicer to the environment.

Same thing with the corks on milk packages. Was it so bad to just put some glue on and open the milk that way?

I don't think that many people need straws.
Ok, if some people need straws - be my guest. Then produce some straws for them. But I promise that at least 90 % of all people on earth dont need straws.

Ok, I didnt know that about corks. However, (even if it is not up to me) you can calculate what is more evironmentally friendly - to have corks so milk at home holds longer, or put away corks and let the milk be a bit older more quickly.

I wonder...if someone walked up to the counter of McDonald’s and said the same thing to the manager
how many people would cheer/support and how many would respond with “ok Karen”
