My parents met in college and because of their racial differences
some people would tell them, “you could do better”.
they became successful with each other, love wins
from whom did they get the most racist criticisms from. family? friends? strangers? his side? her side? im interested in the details.
“Friends” didn’t care but the most hurtful came from family.
on my dad’s side, most accepted it but one of his brothers never bothered hiding his hate. Due to their social status, marrying a poc was “beneath him”(the rest isn’t appropriate to post here). They almost came to blows and didn’t speak for years. When my father passed, he did pay his respects but it didn’t feel genuine.
as for mom’s side of the family, they liked him. If outsiders questioned his presence at a family function, “who’s the white guy?”, the response was, “ he’s not white, he’s light skinned” 🤣
thanks for sharing london. lol whos the white guy
