Remember that most western countries don't do subtitles, not even on news, reality is that these people have literally never been exposed to other languages because everything is dubbed. Idiots.
I'm so anti-dub I will actually fight anyone who dare defend it
there's only two arguments for dub:
people who are illiterate are able to follow what happens
people get employed
True true

I'm convinced those who hate subs are just don't know how to read at avarage speed
If you're dyslexic I'll give a pass but a grown ass person, and a teen too for that matter, should be able to follow subtitles

russian ain't easy, many language that are similar to it... like, ukrainian lmfao
Wouldn't expect someone to know the clear difference between such similar ones but being able to distinguish some at least

Thinking more of:
*French song plays*
''uhm is this like Spanish or something??''

If you're unable to recognize French...............
When people hear Swedish and ask if it's Russian it's like mate no it really is not
ROFL
I see this stuff happen so much on youtube it's really sad witnessing it

It's unfathomable for people who come from countries that pretty much exclusively sub TV from other countries like mate what the fuCK
Yep, it is,
but that's just how it is, some people just won't know the difference sadly.
I know it as well...
Israel is a place full of different languages,
I know Russian, grew up  in a borading school with french people, and now Learning German.

But yeah sadly not everyone gets this privilege.
Idk it's not really about privilege being able to differentiate between languages like sure if it's because you have been on boarding school and shit like that maybe privilege is a factor, but in the Nordics it has traditionally been "we don't dub because it's incredibly expensive and people can read"
I meant it as it's a privilage to be exposed to other languages in any way really, because if you're not then well... yeah
Me in the boarding school is an example
But yeah there are other ways to hear other languages

If you watch the news you will be exposed to many different languages all the time, for example seeing interviews with foreign politicians and so on
